I became fascinated with cemeteries after visiting my grandmother's for the first time in New Orleans. I remember, as we were coming into the cemetery, that some of the graves were broken open. When we had parked we walked over to look inside of them, and the skull and bones were visible.
It was creepy to see. So, I always wondered about the cemetery after that and if there would be any mysterious figures walking in the ruins of them on a dark, moon-filled night.
The cemeteries of New Orleans are very old, and some are abandoned and forgotten. They have become overgrown with weeds and vines, and some tombs have crumbled to the ground or are about to.
Things like that that are decaying can be very interesting. Here, I have mysterious figures in the ruins of such tombs waiting for someone to remember the lost graves or to find company in a visitor that might happen to wander into the lonely cemetery to pay respect to the long forgotten.
New Orleans cemeteries became known as the Cities Of The Dead because the graves were built above ground and began to look like small cities with the architecture and streets.
In this video are pictures I put together of some of the New Orleans cemeteries. Some of these pictures are from Lafayette No. 2 and St. Louis No.1.
The song is called Cities Of The Dead, and is by me. :) ©

I've been hanging out with a squirrel in my backyard lately. He likes eating peanuts on my knee once in a while. Here's a video, if you'd like to see. :)
